Back to school/College/University? - The Best Me

Its SEPTEMBER - "woohoo!"- the proclaimed 'month of doom' by many who fear the next 9 months of grueling lessons, annoying teachers and mundane assignments. In an era where most countries educational system is in a constant state of flux, turning students into academic guanine pigs each semester, its easy to see why so many people don't applaud the return of their academic life.

Another year = eeuughh!

"New Shoes, Check. New bag, Check. New calculator pencils and pens" - which funny enough always seem to  dwindle in number as the year goes on - "Check". As you well know, one of the exciting perks of starting education again in buying stuff. Who doesn't like buying stuff right? I mean we are all guilty of acting like this when the getting stuff for school again.

 But why is it that western culture subtly nudges the idea that to become ready for school is to buy things? Rather in reality there should be more of an emphasis on making long-term investments in ourselves, a purchase over looked by many students buzzing around shopping malls with bags of stationary. The products we use need us, to be in an optimal state of productivity the get the best out of what we buy.

*In your mind*"what is this kid on about"...*out loud* "yeah sure mate"

For many of us, the we all remember the tiresome days and nights during the 'stressful' exam season. Many students frankly couldn't cope. The "ChildLine National Exam Stress Survey revealed that 96% of the 1300 who completed the survey felt anxious about exams and revision". Saying that most students really have a problem with dealing with stress and anxiety during the semester seems a greater problem than matching our bags with our pencil cases for first day back. Consumerism rush has over taken the importance of mental health.

School = Lessons = Exams = Stress=...

Lucky for us its not all doom and groom. Using CBT (cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and physical activity as tool at our disposal we can become more mentally stable; enough to deal the tarantula semester ahead. Find out how to run the best version of you by reading the 'What can you do' part of the stress out Student info graphic.
