#MondayMotivation Dealing With Anixety

'Don't be afraid to complement yourself throughout the day'

When I decided to make this blog post I though to myself, what do most people struggle to deal with on Monday? Waking up to the reality of another long week of work and responsibility? Another week of  stress trying to find opportunities to make extra cash? The sickening thought of A level Results Day this Thursday? These are all scenarios of premature anxiety blossoming from your fear of failure. Fight or Flight - in this case the latter for us on a miserable Monday. If cognitive anxiety ( psychological feelings of apprehension and worry) was a seed in fertile soil, the seed would only grow if it received the right nutriments. Water, Sunlight and so on (stay with me here).

Similarly therefore, your own environment is your mental state throughout Monday. And this can be easily manipulated by intrinsic and extrinsic factors determining your thoughts. Extrinsic examples being work, family, and lifestyle choices. Whilst Controlling extrinsic factors is nor always possible, controlling you is more realistic. With cognitive techniques such as imagining and telling yourself that today will be a 'great day' may seem useless but this is far from the case. By doing this you are replacing your anxieties with positive thoughts, changing the state of your environment. Don't be afraid to complement yourself throughout the day. Spare time on your hands? Why not take this time to think rationally, close your eyes, focus on your breathing from your abdomen.
